She’s doing so many of these, I’m going to start removing the “Guest” from her posts. Which is fine by me. I love watching her process – this time in choosing counter stools. And it gives me the opportunity for some input (however minor). As usual, I’ll be chiming in with italics. So – here we go:
Counter Stools Counterpoint
We have this oh-so-lovely island in our kitchen/family room, which has been painted, has a dishwasher, running water, and a disposal (yay!) No hardware yet….. that’s a story for another day. Today we are shopping for counter stools so we can sit at this lovely counter (honed marble- I love her so much- but on to the seating issue).
Friends, there are a LOT of ugly barstools in the world. My eyes are in pain from the looking. Although I did find some pretties:

$399 at West Elm – and probably not too grandboy friendly.

$155 at Joss & Main (probably too traditional)

$363 at Restoration Hardware (but you can only order 1 at a time with a $199 delivery fee – what kind of sense does that make?)

$139 at World Market – I like the price better but I’d have to check the comfort level. This will be my morning coffee and newspaper spot, after all.

$379 at Ballard Designs

$265 at One Kings Lane – interesting color choice. Pretty funky but pretty cool.

$350 per pair on One Kings Lane

$229 at Wisteria

$695 on Williams Sonoma Home (hello … budget? My thoughts, exactly. Although it is a handsome stool.)

$350 on Williams Sonoma Home
And look at this! A counter bench!

$839 at Ballard Designs. Pretty, but probably not too practical – with the two grandboys, I want washable.

$229 at Crate & Barrel – I kind of love this one – Himself is going to say they look uncomfortable (which means he will have to go over to Knox/Henderson and sit in one). Actually, Himself thinks that they’d be okay with the cushion, shown in the one on the left. Or maybe I’m just getting that eyes-glazed-over reaction I get after about the equivalent of 30 minutes of shopping.
Wow – super budget friendly!

Only $119 – also at C&B
Look at these brass cuties:

Only $199 at CB2 (but backordered) Kind of fits the mixed-metals, unfitted kitchen theme (you’ll see in future posts) that we have going on in the kitchen.
This is my favorite in this style – most of the others I saw had too much going on in the leg area:

This one is nice and simple and a very reasonable $269 at CB2. (This is my favorite.)
And of course:

Ikea only $89 and I could get some great slipcovers from Etsy or ComfortWorks.
Enough choices – time to start making decisions! (Ya think?) One issue in the decision process is what will go in the family room? If it’s a leather sofa, I won’t want leather barstools (I suppose I understand this but I’m pretty fond of leather.) … hmmmm … every decision creates yet another!
Wow! That’s a lot of counter stools. This kind of thing takes a lot of patience that I’m afraid I lack. Glad Debra has it – and even seems to enjoy it. And the proof is always in the product – it always looks fantastic.
Thanks for sharing this process With the Barretts – we really enjoy the company!
