Hello everyone, Debra here again. I am trying very diligently to focus on one room at a time…. I suffer from design ADD (okay, I have ADD everywhere, and it’s actually the people around me who do the suffering… but on to my post) This is Dan – I’ll be chiming in occasionally, too.
I thought we could talk today about lighting- I’ve been on the hunt for a couple of fixtures, and I realized we hadn’t really talked much about the ones we’ve already installed- except for those beauties in the family room from Cedar and Moss:

Here is a shot of the sconces installed in the Family Room:
The new fixtures went in over the island yesterday and I’m loving them so much! I was worried, because here’s how that went down: very early into the renovation process I got a call from Shawn asking about the island pendants. Which put me in a bit of a panic as I thought I had months to make that decision. He explains a bunch of contractor stuff… my mind hears “blah blah pick a light fixture today”- ack!
It just so happened I was on the Williams Sonoma Home site looking (okay drooling and daydreaming) over some furniture. New house equals new furniture, right? And I just happened to see this lovely:

It was backordered, and Shawn was in a hurry to get something put in somewhere before the drywaller came, so….

I got the oil rubbed bronze version – it came very quickly and then sat in the garage for a very long time, and got installed yesterday. It’s fantastic- perfect size and perfect amount of light on that long island.
Here’s how they look – the island is being painted today and tomorrow. They’ll look even better when we get the kitchen finished!
Moving on to the powder: more Cedar and Moss (they have such pretty things for such great prices):

This pretty baby was just the right size for my small powder- these were also installed yesterday- I can’t wait to see how they look against the black tile wall (tile is not yet installed, due to issues with my faucet choice- heavy sigh). No bulbs yet, either, so I’ll wait on a pic of the installation. Hint – we’re probably not going round. Need to funk it up a bit.
The entryway fixture has not yet arrived- it was a challenge to find something with size but not length (8 foot ceilings). We settled on this one
Decisions still to be made:
Laundry room
Garage entry hall
I’ve looked at about 200 different versions of the factory light:

Love this brass one from School House Electric, but it’s not as budget friendly as this cutie from Barn Light Electric-

I think that white might be good in the laundry room with those pretty blue cabinets- what do you think?
This one on Etsy:

is super cute and only 75$, but it’s from the UK…. So not sure about wiring. No decision on this one yet- I’m open to suggestions!
Seriously, if you have suggestions, let us know. In the meantime – we’re slowly but surely unpacking as things get finished. The dishwasher, which was supposed to be installed in the island today, hasn’t even arrived from the manufacturer. And the ETA is anyone’s guess.
Oh, well … it’s an adventure, right? Thanks for coming along on it With the Barretts!

How about the Ashland Brass Pendant from Barn Light Electric — http://www.barnlightelectric.com/barn-lighting/copper-lighting/cord-hung-pendants/the-ashland-brass-pendant.html
Or, if you like the blue color of the one from the UK, they have the Wilcox deep bowl pendant which is porcelain in Delphite Blue — http://www.barnlightelectric.com/barn-lighting/pendant-lighting/barn-pendant-lights/wesco-cord-hung-deepbowl-pendant.html
Or the Wesco Cord Hung Pendant which is powder coat in White — http://www.barnlightelectric.com/barn-lighting/pendant-lighting/barn-pendant-lights/wesco-cord-hung-deepbowl-pendant.html
All good options, easy to customize and American made!
Thanks, Betty Lynne – All good suggestions. Debra loves your fixtures and I strongly suspect that one of them (probably the white one in the post) will end up in the laundry room. Thanks, again, for reading and come back!
Have Debra shoot me an email if she has any questions at all. Happy to help!
